Shri Shiroor Matha is one among the Ashta Mathas established by Shri Madhwacharya to worship Shri Krishna at Udupi. Shri Vamana Teertharu, a direct disciple of Shri Madhwacharya is the first pontiff of Shri Shiroor Matha.
Shri Madhwacharya blessed Shri Vamana Teertharu with the Idol of Shri Vittala Devaru (“Vamana Vittala”) along with the Idols of Shri Devi and Bhoo Devi.
The main branch of this Math is located in Shiroor Village of Udupi District.
