Sthala Purana
The temple at Sathanur is dedicated to Lord Narasimha in the form of Kambada Narasimha, named after the tall stone pillar (Kamba) near the sanctum. Local lore narrates that Lord Narasimha appeared here to bless devotees and sages who performed penance in the rocky terrain of Sathanur. The shrine is considered ancient, with inscriptions linking it to the Vijayanagara period. The deity is worshipped as a fierce yet protective guardian of the region.
