Shri Balagaru Math

Shri Balagaru Math

Shri Akshobhya Teertharu, one of the direct disciples of Shriman Madhwacharyaru, initiated Shri Lokavandita Teertharu and established a Math to spread Tatvavada.  The Math was established in village called Balagaru in Teerthalli Taluk in Shivamogga (Shimoga) District of Karnataka.  This lineage is called as the Balagaru Akshobhya Teertha Matha.

Shriman Madhwacharya Kararchita Shri Rama Devaru, Shri Akshobhya Teertharu Kararchita Shri Lakshmi Narasimha Devaru and Shri Anantha Padmanabha Devaru are the main deities of this Math.  The Math also has a Narasimha Saligrama given to Shri Lokavandita Teertharu by Shri Akshobhya Teertharu.

The History of this Matha is not clear as it has lost all its records in the floods in the past.  There are around 12 Brindavanas in this Math in Balagaru.  Unfortunately, the identity of many is not known due to lack of records.  The Math Building in Balagaru is also dilapidated and efforts are being made by devotees to renovate the same.
