Shri Lakshmipathi Teertharu

Sri Lakshmipati Theertha is the twenty-first saint in the lineage of Shiroor Mutt following Sri Vamana Theertha. He received his Ashrama initiation from Sri Lakshminarayana Theertha and served as the pontiff for a duration of 16 years.

He is renowned for his extensive tours undertaken to propagate the Dvaita philosophy. During one such tour, he had a significant experience at a place called Papuja. In a dream, he saw a vision of Sri Venugopala Krishna playing the flute and was informed that an idol of Venugopala Krishna lay beneath a nearby ant-hill. The next morning, the idol was unearthed, and Sri Lakshmipati Theertha subsequently installed it in Papuja. He established the Papuja Mutt at this location.

Upon passing on the leadership of the Peeta to Sri Lakshmidhara Theertha, Sri Lakshmipati Theertha is believed to have entered Vrindavana at Udupi, marking the end of his earthly journey.
