Why do we need to talk with elderly people?

Pt. Shri Pranesh Achar (Ananda Rangan)

General

Life can be understood as having four parts, through which our knowledge and understanding mature.

One-fourth of our learning comes from our gurus, who teach us important life lessons.

One-fourth comes from our own thinking and intellect.

One-fourth comes from the people we interact with in our daily life.

One-fourth comes from experience, as time passes and we grow older.

In this, the third part—learning from people we interact with—is very important. When we talk to elders, they share the wisdom gained from many years of life in a short time. They help us understand what is important and what is not in life.

By spending time with elders and learning from their experiences, we can move faster and more wisely toward our goals in life.
