Pt. Shri. Vedavyasacharya

General

Answer from Shastra

The following times should be avoided for haircut and oil bath (Abhyanga):

  • Early morning (Pratah Kāla)
  • On the day of parents’ Shraddha
  • Three specific days:
    • Dashami
    • Ekadashi
    • Dwadashi

👉 These three are called “Dina-traya” (three important days)

What happens if done on these days?

  • It is said to be equal to Surapana (drinking alcohol)
  • Hence, it is considered inauspicious and improper

Traditional Practice

  • People first complete their पूजा (puja) and rituals
  • Then go for haircut later in the day
  • This avoids doing Kshoura at improper times

Conclusion

👉 Avoid haircut:

  • Early morning
  • Shraddha day
  • Dashami, Ekadashi, Dwadashi

👉 Also avoid oil bath on these days
